Labeling Machine Fault Finding

Labeling Machine Common Faults and Solutions

It cannot be helped that with machines, problems may eventually arise. As such, it is only imperative to know how to go about labeling machine fault finding. With the rigors associated with daily production, it is expected that something may go awry. However, if one knows how to solve the issue, then the stress associated with these happenings will certainly be diminished.

Given the growth of your company, you have now decided to upgrade to a more appropriate setup. When you decided to invest some of your hard-earned money into one of the LabelOn™ Labeling Machines, you expected nothing less than the absolute best, and that is always what we aim to deliver to you, our valued customers. As such, we provide extensive services for you and your machines, targeted towards making your life easier and addressing whatever issues may arise.

Labeling machines were designed to make your workload easier. With their promised efficiency and positive effects on productivity, it is no wonder that you decided to upgrade. They also generally have lower instances of errors, as their programming is usually well-adapted to suit your specific needs. Once a fault is found, it is then that we must find the perfect solution. With how imperative these labeling machines are, any delay in finding an answer could cause a significant pang on production and even these short time spans could spell disaster for your business. As such, we at LabelOn™ have made it a point to help you with your labeling machine fault finding needs.

Labeling Machine Fault Finding Process

We have a set process that we can walk you through via different avenues, be it by email or call, to help you as soon as you need it. Our processes are driven by a fundamental understanding of how our machines function, the possible problems which may arise depending on the machine and its configurations, and whatever untoward incidents may have occurred for the fault to ensue. You do not need to worry over these, however, as our experts can solve these problems and get you and your production line up and running in no time.

We address a variety of variables that may have contributed to the labeling machine fault at hand, and help you in troubleshooting the issue. Our process is simple and efficient, with no time wastage—time you can put back into running your successful business.

At LabelOn™, we strive to give you the best in both machines and whatever labeling machine maintenance you will need with regards to our equipment. We work for you and your production, making sure you get everything you need when you need them. With us, you are certainly in good hands.

How to Solve Common Problems of Labeling Machines?

A key strength to our labeling machine supply is how we go about fault-finding.

For LabelOn™ when there is a problem, we treat it as an opportunity; an opportunity for us to shine and show our clients how we pull clear from any other labeling equipment solution that is on offer.

Labeling Machine Fault Finding “it’s not working anymore”

Like any machine behavior that you are trying to understand, it is important to identify the various parameters and controls that can affect the process.

These variables can then be examined in ISOLATION to see which one (or more) variables are causing the behavior; then we work to get the behavior we want.

A good starting point is to carefully describe the behavior and to identify ANY “known” changes of conditions/variables from the last time you were getting the behavior you want.

Troubleshooting the Labeling Machine

Try to think of ANY “known” changes of conditions/variables from the last time you were getting the behavior you want; these can include:

  1. Changes of labels/rolls
  2. Changes of products
  3. Changes of Operators
  4. Change of a Touch Panel Memory
  5. Changes of machine location and/or a change of a Power Outlet

The next step is we then work with screen sharing and video calls to help the client truly understand what is happening and how the variables identified and controls available can influence the machine behavior.

Using Video calls, phone calls, Screen sharing, and our unique customer-client Gallery, problems are identified, solutions are found and records are updated in a very efficient process. The basic premise we try to work with is having the client involved in finding and fixing the problem; in contrast to simply applying a mysterious service measure that somehow gets things going again.

We know our equipment and make it our business to ensure you know our equipment as well.

Hot Foil Coding

Simple, Effective Way to Get a Batch Code

Hot Foil Coding for Batch Numbers and Use By Dates

Hot Foil Coding

Hot Foil Coding is a very simple and effective way to get a batch code or a use by date onto your product via its label. It is a clean, no messy inks or solvents, solution where what you see is what you get.

Put simply the labels on the machine pass through a gap between a heated type set holder and a backing pad. Just in front of the heated type set is an ink ribbon a little bit like what you might see in old printers or typewriters. The heated type set is placed on the end of a short stroke pneumatic cylinder. At the end of a label feed the controls of the LabelOn™ give a signal to the pneumatic cylinder of the hot foil coder to stamp onto the Label.

Placement of the stamp is adjusted mechanically by screwing the stamp to the desired height and horizontal position on the stationary label. Controls on the labeller let you set how long the pneumatic stamp stays out, and a separate temperature controller lets you set the temperature for the heated type. Changing the stamp is a simple matter of changing the brass type letters.

LabelOn™ Modular 3 Head Fruit Juice Labeler Machine

Fruit Juice Labeler Machine

Our happy recipients of 2 x LabelOn™ labeling machines could not wait to unpack their machines.

They unpacked the machines, fitted the Swivel controls and even did some tests ahead of an installation engineer and ahead of even receiving a manual.

This highlighted the intuitive design and clear layout of both electronics and mechanics.

flat sided juice labeler

As with any machine install there were some items on the machine that had moved during transport but the clear layout of electronics and the self-evident design of the machine meant any teething problems were quickly and easily dealt with.

Within hours of the machine unpack the machines had been tested and was running production. Only after having taking a little time to review the manual did all the features of the machine available further impress the clients.

The Two LabelOn™ labelers were installed recently into Juicy Isle Tasmania each with the capacity to label Front and Back labels and add a small neck or spot label.

Immediately the client began to appreciate the features and precision of adjustments and not available to them with the three labellers they had previously been using.

This “Fruit Juice” LabelOn™ labeling machines placed provided benefits that became self-evident within days of installation.

The LabelOn™ configuration had:

  1. Extra Neck/Spot station INCLUDED!
  2. A Wrap Module (For round bottles up to 85% wrap around labels)
  3. Every Physical Module adjustment and even Guide Rail adjustments have a rule or scale for recording.
  4. Large Hand-wheels on Modules enabling near effortless adjustments to be made with accuracy
  5. Label Heads Driven with Five phase (not two phase) Stepping Motors; resulting in smoother and higher resolution label movements – making it electronically possible to start and stop the labels more accurately
  6. Label Heads fitted with Spring Loaded Wipers; resulting in even label wipe down pressure
  7. Label Heads fitted with a large roll diameter of 380mm (Compared to most “common” labellers with only 320mm roll diameter capacity or less) – If you were considering a typcial 90mm Dairy label this would increase the number of labels from about 5500 per roll to 8300 per roll reducing your label roll changes/stoppages due to finished rolls of labels by a third!
  8. Label Heads fitted with Clear Label Gap Sensors; providing the flexibility to use clear and opaque labels: INCLUDED!
  9. Overhead Conveyor fitted with a Servo Motor; resulting in a smoother, quieter and cooler operation
  10. Overhead Conveyor fitted with independently moving spring feet behind the belt; reducing the “bridging problem” where normal bottle variation can lead to two taller bottles either side of a shorter bottle having reduced or no hold down pressure during label application and wipe down
  11. Main Conveyor fitted with a variable speed A/C motor providing high resolution encoder position and speed feedback; resulting in smoother, quieter and cooler operation and – making it possible to initiate a label feed with more timing/position
  12. Controls Mounted on a swivel arm; making it possible to adjust machine settings from both sides of the machine
  13. Touch Panel Controls with memory to hold 120 Jobs
  14. Machine Status Light Tower; Enabling a quick glance from a distance to gauge what mode the machine is in
  15. End of label Roll Sensor and Alarm INCLUDED!
  16. Missing label (on Roll) Alarm INCLUDED!
  17. Standard PLC and Motor Drivers – making spare parts an assured thing and preventing the “charge what you want” approach from machine suppliers with custom control boards and motor drivers
  18. Plugs for all electronics and internal wiring clearly labelled, laid out and easily accessible; making service and repair fast and easy.
  19. 3-D mechanical model records enabling live internet connection discussions to quickly and visually drill down to any part on the machine – for service, adjustment and replacement discussions (requires a Skype account)
